Plug Valve and Ball Valve Difference Introduction
Plug valve and ball valve main difference(plug valve VS ball valve) is valve structure, working principle, operation mode, flow control, sealing performance and application scenarios. ZZJG VALVE company will introduce the differences in detail of plug valve and ball valve.
1. Plug Valve and Ball Valve structure differences
The structure of plug valve is relatively complex, composed of valve body, valve cover, valve spool, valve seat and valve stem, and its closing member is a plunger-shaped rotary valve, which makes the passage port on the valve plug connect with or separate from the passage port on the valve body by rotating 90°.
The ball valve is evolved through the plug valve, its structure is relatively simple, consists of a spherical body and an orifice through the ball. The opening and closing parts of the ball valve are a sphere, which is rotated 90° around the axis of the valve stem to realize the opening and closing.
2. Plug Valve and Ball Valve working principle
The working principle of plug valve is to open or close the channel by rotating the plug body, the plug body rotates with the valve stem to realize the opening and closing action. Plug valve opening and closing parts for the conical plug with holes, the fluid channel and the axis of the plug is perpendicular.
The working principle of the ball valve is to control the opening and closing of the fluid by rotating the ball, when the ball is rotated to contact with the valve seat, forming a seal to prevent fluid leakage; when the ball is rotated to separate from the valve seat, the fluid can flow through the channel in the valve body.
3. Plug Valve and Ball Valve operation is different
Plug valve operation is relatively complex, need to rotate a number of turns to complete the switching action, through the rotation to control the flow of fluid. Plug valves perform well in flow regulation, can accurately control the diameter of the fluid channel, but is not suitable for frequent operation.
Ball valves are relatively simple to operate, usually requiring only a 90-degree rotation to complete the on/off action. The design of a ball valve allows the fluid passage to open or close quickly after a 90-degree rotation of the ball, making it easy and fast to operate. In addition, the sealing performance of the ball valve is excellent, especially in the fully open or fully closed state, the fluid resistance is small, suitable for the need for rapid switching occasions.
4. Plug Valve and Ball Valve flow control is different
Plug Valve due to its structural characteristics, can accurately control the diameter of the fluid channel, so as to achieve the precise adjustment of the flow. In contrast, although the ball valve can be rotated to adjust the opening, but not as flexible as plug valves, plug valves in the flow regulation performance is better, while the ball valve flow regulation performance is relatively poor.
5. Plug Valve and Ball Valve sealing effect of different
Plug valve sealing performance is better, usually with a multi-channel sealing design, suitable for sealing the higher requirements of the occasion. Ball valve structure is simple, light weight, small size, more convenient to use. Plug valves have a complex structure, but rapid switching and low fluid resistance.
6. Plug Valve and Ball Valve applicable occasions are different
Plug valves are widely used in oilfield mining, transportation and refining equipment, suitable for applications that require precise flow control and good sealing.
Ball valves are widely used in petroleum, chemical, paper, pharmaceutical and other industries, suitable for the need to quickly open or close the application scenario.
When selecting the type, you need to consider different occasions, media and working conditions and other conditions to choose the right valve, the above content provided by ZZJG company.
