The difference between DIB plug valve and DBB plug valve
DIB plug valves(Double Isolation and Bleed Plug Valve) and DBB plug valves(Double Block and Bleed Plug Valve) are important devices used for isolation and pressure relief in industry. The core difference is reflected in the structural design, sealing capability, safety performance and application scenarios.
DIB plug valve VS DBB plug valve
DBB plug valves adopts double check seat (single piston effect, SPE) design, when closed, the upstream and downstream seats are pressurized and sealed respectively, the intermediate chamber can be relieved through the discharge port, and if the pressure in the chamber rises abnormally, the one-way seat will automatically relieve the pressure to the downstream pipeline. Its structure is relatively simple, low cost, with one-way isolation ability, applicable to gas, liquid and other non-corrosive media in low-risk scenarios, such as petrochemical pipeline maintenance, municipal water pipeline control, etc., in line with international standards, such as API 6D, commonly used in the need for unidirectional cut off and self-pressure relief of conventional industrial environments.
DIB plug valve introduction
DIB plug valves are divided into two types, DIB-1 and DIB-2: DIB-1 adopts double bidirectional seat (double piston effect, DPE); DIB-2 combines the unidirectional seat (SPE) and bi-directional seat (DPE) to support the self-pressure relief function. DIB valves, due to strong bi-directional sealing ability and high safety, are suitable for high-pressure, toxic, flammable and explosive and other high-risk media, such as natural gas treatment, LNG storage tanks, nuclear power cooling systems and aseptic production lines in the pharmaceutical industry, etc., and need to comply with more stringent standards and specifications, such as API 6D, ISO 17292 or GB/T 19672-2021, etc. In practical applications, DBB plug valves are used in a wide range of industries, including automotive, aerospace and aerospace, medical, pharmaceutical, medical and pharmaceutical.
In practice, DBB plug valves are prioritized for limited budgets and low media risk due to unidirectional isolation and self-pressure relief, while DIB valves are the preferred choice for high-risk conditions due to their bi-directional isolation and reliable relief mechanisms (DIB-1 requires external assistance, DIB-2 is self-pressure relief). Note that DIB-2 valves require strict compliance with flow direction requirements for installation and have higher maintenance costs than DBB valves due to their complex construction.
The difference between DIB plug valve and DBB plug valve are seal directionality, pressure relief, and the risk level of the applicable media-the DBB focuses on unidirectional shutoff and basic pressure relief, while the DIB provides bidirectional isolation and higher safety levels of discharge control, meeting the isolation and safety needs of different industrial scenarios.
